About
Kawaguchi Yōhei (川口洋平), known by his nickname kawayoo, was born in 1974 in Japan. He is a freelance digital illustrator recognized for his work on the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). Kawayoo began illustrating TCG cards in the Platinum: Rising Rivals expansion, released in May 2009, and has contributed artwork since 2008. As of the latest updates, he has illustrated 213 Pokémon TCG cards and an additional 31 cards for Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. His notable works include the Blastoise-EX Full Art card and the rare Umbreon VMAX. Kawayoo has also illustrated region maps for several Pokémon games, including Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and key city artworks. His artistic style is described as surreal, multi-layered, and painterly, often inspired by cyberpunk and anime aesthetics. Kawayoo maintains an active online presence across various platforms.
