About
Miki Tanaka (田中 美樹) is a Japanese illustrator known for her work on the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). She began her career in 1997 with the Fossil expansion, illustrating her first card, Slowpoke. Tanaka's art is characterized by a simplistic and minimalist style, often featuring few shades and minimal line art. She works traditionally, using gouache on A4-sized watercolor paper, and does not utilize digital tools for her Pokémon artwork. Over her career, she has illustrated approximately 208 cards, making her one of the longest-running artists in the Pokémon TCG. Born in Tokyo, she initially studied English and began her artistic journey by painting custom designs on fans and bamboo hats while working part-time at a traditional dance prop shop. Miki Tanaka is also a mother of two.
