Kimiya Masago (正子 公也), born in 1960 in Okayama, is a freelance illustrator known for his historical and emaki-style artwork. He often illustrates characters from Chinese and Japanese history, including those from Romance of the Three Kingdoms and Water Margin. Masago has also worked in the film industry as a costume designer and concept artist. He served as an illustrator for the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) from 2000 to 2005, contributing to 23 cards, including reprints, with his first set being Neo Discovery and his last being EX Legend Maker. Notable cards he illustrated include Umbreon, Kabutops, Scyther, and Gyarados. His artwork is recognized for its rich tones and atmospheric style, earning him praise from fans and collectors who consider his illustrations among the darkest and coolest in the game.
