About
Akira Komayama is a freelance illustrator known for his work on the Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG). He began his freelance career in 2009 and has been contributing illustrations to the TCG since around 2010. His first card was the BW-P Promotional Pansage, and his first English-released illustrations were Magby and Eevee from the Call of Legends expansion. Over the years, he has illustrated a significant number of cards, with reports indicating he has created between 237 and 252 unique illustrations across various platforms. Prior to his freelance work, Komayama spent approximately eight years as a designer and CG artist for a game company. His artistic philosophy focuses on depicting calm and heartwarming scenes that reflect the Pokémon's natural habitat and behavior. He is well-regarded in the Pokémon community for his expressive and colorful art style, often being cited as a favorite among collectors.
