About
Yusuke Ohmura (大村祐介) is a prominent Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) illustrator and character designer, born on July 6, 1981. He began his career as an illustrator for the Pokémon TCG with the Mysterious Treasures expansion and has illustrated around 70 cards, including reprints. His contributions extend beyond the TCG; he has worked on character designs for Pokémon games since Diamond & Pearl, creating notable characters and Pokémon such as Piplup, Oshawott, Xerneas, and Yveltal. After leaving Game Freak in 2016, he continued to contribute to Pokémon Sword and Shield, designing the Legendary Pokémon Zacian and Zamazenta, as well as the rival character Marnie. Ohmura has also played a significant role in conceptualizing the Ultra Beasts, drawing inspiration from previously rejected Pokémon designs. His work reflects a deep understanding of the franchise's artistic direction and evolution.
