TOKIYA, whose full name is Tokiya Sakuba, is a freelance digital illustrator born in 1983 in Tokyo, Japan. They have been a contributor to the Pokémon Trading Card Game since the Arceus expansion, which was released in 2009. TOKIYA is known for their unique artistic technique that utilizes graphic tablets and image editing software to create richly detailed, surreal, and atmospheric imagery. Their illustrations often feature insects, mechanical forms, and human anatomy, bringing a surreal edge to Pokémon and their environments. TOKIYA has illustrated around 91 unique Pokémon TCG cards, or 102 including reprints, making them a prolific artist in the TCG community. Notable works include the Toxtricity card from the Rebel Clash expansion and various promo cards. Beyond the TCG, TOKIYA has designed non-player characters for Pokémon Sun and Moon and contributed to Pokémon Art Academy. They are celebrated for their intense style, characterized by sharp expressions and dramatic poses.
